Why this runs in your browser
Sending a file to a server to convert it means trusting someone with it, waiting for the upload, then waiting for the download. Here the work happens on your own machine with a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing for us to store, log or lose.
Need the words, not just the audio?
If you are pulling MP3 out of a recording to write it up afterwards, you can skip a step: upload the original file for transcription and get speaker-labelled text with timestamps instead.

Is there a file size limit?
There is no limit we impose, but the whole file is held in memory during conversion, so very large files can run out of it on phones and older machines.
