No sign-up needed — 1 free transcript a day. A free account gives you 3 a day and keeps them.

From the Voice Memos app to a transcript

In Voice Memos, tap the recording, tap the three-dot menu and choose Share, then Save to Files. The file keeps the name you gave it, or something like New Recording 12.m4a. Open WhoScribe in Safari, choose the file from Files and start. Lectures, meetings and interviews recorded on a phone lying on the table transcribe well in a quiet room; for a conversation, speaker separation can give each person their own lines.

How it works

Three steps to your first transcript

  1. Drop in your file

Audio or video of any length; the free plan transcribes the first 15 minutes of each file. MP3, MP4, M4A, WAV, MOV and a dozen more.

  2. Pick the language

Leave the language on automatic or set it for better accuracy. Turn on speaker recognition if you need to know who said what.

  3. Read, edit, export

The transcript opens with clickable timestamps — read it and fix a name straight away. A free account keeps it and exports it as TXT; DOCX, PDF, SRT and VTT come with the unlimited plan.

FAQ

Questions before you upload

Try it on this page

Why can’t I see my Voice Memos when I pick a file?

The browser file picker shows the Files app, not Voice Memos directly. Share the recording from Voice Memos and choose Save to Files first; it will then appear in the picker.

Can I upload several memos at once?

Yes. Select more than one file and each becomes its own transcript, within your plan’s limits.

My memo is long. Will it work?

Long recordings are fine. On the free plan the first part of a long file is shown and the rest can be unlocked for that file; the current limits are on the pricing page.
