Why the auto-captions are not the transcript
TikTok shows captions on screen, but they are built for glancing at a phone: cut into fragments, stripped of punctuation and impossible to copy out. A transcript is a different object — whole sentences, timestamps you can jump to, and text you can paste into a document. That is the difference between watching a video again to find one quote and searching the page for it.
Does it work on private accounts?
No. If the video needs a login to watch, it needs one to fetch, and we do not sign in as anyone. Public videos and public share links work.
What about a language other than English?
Pick the spoken language before you start and it transcribes in that language. Around a hundred are recognised, and each has a page of its own.
Can I get subtitles out of it?
Yes — SRT and VTT are among the export formats, timed and ready to drop into an editor.
